University Resources

Off-Campus Student Support maintains a variety of resources to help students navigate the experience of moving and living off campus including:

  • A classified ad website with off campus listing and a roommate search function.
  • Housing fairs in the Fall and Spring where students can explore their on- and off-campus housing options.

Student Legal Services assists Penn State University Park students with their personal legal needs. Types of matters they may be able to assist with for off-campus students include:

  • Lease review
  • Eviction
  • Security deposit disputes

CAPS Chat is available to help students navigate off-campus roommate disputes and other difficulties they may encounter when living off campus.

Free mediation services are available to students to assist them in resolving disputes.

Government Resources

Centre Region Code Enforcement can be reached by phone at (814) 238-2633 regarding structural conditions, maintenance, health, and safety issues in rental units.

Consumer complaints about utilities can be made to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.

The Centre County Housing Authority operates the area’s income-based affordable housing programs.

Community Resources

Sliding scale mediation services are offered by the Center for Alternatives in Community Justice.

Housing Transitions, Inc. offers emergency housing and can help families and individuals explore their housing options.
